ECBACC

Hey folks.
I recently(like 3 days ago) took part in the biggest black orientated and run comic book conventions in the country. It was  great. I got to meet people who I normally don't see. Mostly folks from online community of Blacksuperhero.com, Herotalk.

seeing all the Herotalk family was great, but I also got to see quite a few comic creators I admire. Like brother man creator, Dawud Anyabwile and Eric Battle, the Trimeka crew and many others. and sold some prints. any one who missed a print feel free to email me or leave me a message. ilyght@gmail.com

unfortunately I only have one photo. I kept forgetting my camera. this is outside of fat Tuesday, as a fight broke out. ahhh philly, philly, philly. I got some new art but I'll post that later

Schoool Out for the summer!

Once a month!
Seems to be my average rate so far at blogging. I have to blog from work with art from home. Hopefully later this year I can get internet access at home so it’s less of a problem. I hear blogging is for those who do it consistently. Maybe as often as every two or three hours. I can’t imagine having that much to say or drawing and uploading that fast.
schools over and so I’m going to post the results of my drawing class here. I had graphic design class as well, but I personally think graphic design at this level begins to get a little bit boring on screen. Even if your good it’s just package designs and it looks like it. Whats new? E.C.C.B.A.C. comic convention Friday and Saturday may 17th. My wife is also putting together an emerging Artist show June 27th, I will defiantly have some work there. Hopefully I will print a book or two by the end of the year and get back to making comics on the regular. I’m going to try to get a web strip or two going as well late this year into next year. Lots of stuff on my plate, time to shut up and draw.

Slow going.

Whats new. Not much. Been working hard for school. I put together some works for folks so I can keep putting stuff out there. Recently I’ve also been playing the Djembe with my martial arts school. That’s pretty fun, well it’s fun when your playing well. Like any instrument it’s not fun when you mess it up. And because the skills needed are relatively simple it’s a lot easier to mess up. It’s like trying to draw a perfect circle or line by hand. It’s simple but damn near impossible. Anyway here are some sketches and works in progress. I’ll post a link to spring later, as my photobucket will probably taker her down soon

Been a long time, i shouldn't have left you...

Hey folks. Sorry about the long absence. I know this blog isn’t the most popular but it’s just a no-no to commit to something and then drop it with out reason or explanation. Fear not though, I haven’t dropped my blog, or stopped being an artist, or arson member (I don’t think I could if I wanted to.) I am in school however and I’ve just been busy with home work, my martial arts and my job. I’ve also been doing some side work for ECBACC( East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention). It’s work that should be printed. It’s towards the cause of literacy in youth; I think comics make great fighters of illiteracy especially in young readers who have trouble adapting to novels. So here are some sketches for blogs sake. I’ve always got like ten things going on; hopefully I can juggle them all well.
Apadamax is the mascot of the ECBACC. He’s a highly intelligent capoerista and crime fighter.
Here’s some school work. Cool optical illusions if you blur your eyes you get an image. They are probably a little too obvious. I’m not as good at graphic design as I am at drawing. I will try to post my drawing homework later.
And I’ve tried my hand at sculpture after seeing the works of Norman A. Hughes and Thomas Blackshear. My employer was looking at it and dropped it, so I had to glue most of her appendages back on. Only my first attempt though, I’m sure there will be others. My drawing teacher thinks I should study Degas. I do like Degas, and since I have to write an art history paper on a drawing I saw at the museum I think I will use Degas. I do study other artist. They just happen to mostly comic book artist and illustrators. I really like Oliver Copiel and Jim Lee. I very much like the art of Adam Hughes, Tom Feelings and Norman Rockwell as well. These are artist that very much influence my art and that I think are awesome artist. I like one guy my teacher thinks is great, I think his name is Anthony Lopez. Man that’s some realistic stuff.
